Trade tops agenda as Kingi meets Chinese Ambassador to Kenya

Speaker of the Senate Amason King on Thursday met with the Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Zhou Pingjian.

Pingjian met with the Speaker at his office at Parliament Buildings.

Kingi through his X handle said the discussion focused on strengthening parliamentary cooperation between Kenya and China.

"Our deliberations touched on a wide range of issues informed by the thriving bilateral relations between Kenya and China," Kingi said.

According to Kingi, the two leaders discussed how parliaments in the two countries can help foster ties, especially in trade and development.

They also discussed participation by Kenyan legislators in the upcoming Forum on China-Africa Co-operation Summit to be held in Beijing.

"I also reiterated Kenya’s position, as articulated by our Foreign Affairs Ministry, on the One-China Policy and the need to respect territorial integrity and non-interference in domestic affairs of China," Kingi said.
