Uhuru Park handover

Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale will today preside over the handover ceremony of the newly renovated Uhuru and Central parks to Nairobi City County.

The two parks were closed in 2022 for rehabilitation.

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has been undertaking works that were geared at enhancing visitor experience by ensuring they meet global standards.

Duale told senators Wednesday that they will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Nairobi City during the handover.

The MoU, he stated, will see a technical team from KDF oversee the process for the next six months.

While Uhuru Park is fully complete, eight per cent of the works, he revealed, was remaining at the Central park, he said.

Mediation summit

Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mbete Mwilu will today deliver a keynote address at the start of a two-day Mediation Summit on Employment Disputes.

The summit whose theme is ‘Harmonising Labour Relations: Fostering Social Justice and Economic Growth through Mediation’ is taking place at Strathmore University, Nairobi.

Nationwide tree planting campaign

The International Police Association Kenya Section in recognition of its core objective of the procreation of world peace has identified tree planting as one of the workable areas of partnership between the Police, Public Institutions, and local communities in a countrywide project dubbed ‘PLANT a TREE-GREEN IPA.

The IPA Green Project aims to plant 500,000 seedlings in police establishments/public institutions and public forests across the country this season.

This year, it has partnered with the National Gun Owners Association (NGAO) of Kenya to host the launch at the NGAO range in Kirigiti. 

The function is expected to attract the top police leadership, National Government Administration Officers, and officials of NGAO. 

At least 2,000 seedlings are expected to be planted at the venue.

Ruling on suspension of top state officials under probe

A key ruling with significant implications in the fight against corruption is expected today.

It is from a petition filed against EACC by the suspended CEO of Bomas of Kenya Peter Gitaa Koria before the Employment and Labour Relations Court.
