The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission has called in former Murang'a Governor Mwangi wa Iria to assist with investigations.

The meeting was meant to happen on Tuesday at the Integrity Center, but Iria requested the Commission to reschedule for Wednesday, April 17.

EACC Spokesperson Eric Ngumbi said after considering the request, the Commission accepted it.

The anti-graft body has been conducting investigations touching on a complaint regarding allegations of procurement irregularities and conflict of interest in the award of publicity tenders by the County Government of Murang'a.

The tender is said to have been awarded to a private company at the cost of Sh140,000,000 during FY 2014/2015 and 2015/2016.

So far, EACC has eight persons of interest including three former county officials and five people in the private sector.

They are to be charged with five counts of anti-corruption crimes including conspiracy to commit an offence of corruption, abuse of office and unlawful acquisition of public property.

Other counts include dealing with suspect property and money laundering.
