A wife to a senior police officer is reportedly nursing a gunshot wound in hospital after she allegedly shot herself in Nairobi.

The couple’s daughter aged 15 is also in hospital after she suffered a bullet wound in the finger.

According to police, the couple had been out for the better part of Sunday afternoon and had returned home when an argument broke out between them.

This prompted the woman to rush to their bedroom and get a pistol which reportedly belonged to her husband.

The husband was armed with a Jericho pistol issued to him with an extra magazine with 30 bullets.

In the argument, the woman allegedly pointed the pistol to her chest threatening to die by suicide.

Their 15-year-old daughter reportedly jumped and tried to stop the mother.

According to police, in the process, she pulled the trigger injuring the daughter’s right middle finger.

This is as she tried to wrestle the weapon from the mother.

The bullet hit the mother in the upper side of the chest and exited at the back, police said.

They were both rushed to hospital where they were admitted in stable condition.

Senior police officers visited the scene and picked up the weapon and spent cartridge.

They said an investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
