The DP jokingly asked residents of Kericho to plead, on his behalf, with the President to push his waking time to 5 am, citing old age.

“I’m a bit old, and also I’m a pastor’s husband, I should not be waking up too early,” he stated.

“Will you defend me? I’m a bit strained. In his efforts to build the nation, he hurts us a little”.

Gachagua further noted that he has supported the President in all his endeavors and reminded them of his commitment to the government agenda.

In 2022 during the campaigns, Gachagua had promised to work hard, noting that he was an early riser ready to serve the people.

In December last year, Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria intimated on how things run while working with the head of state.

Kuria said working with Ruto is not a walk in the park and is even an uphill task for those with a tendency to sleep on their job.

"He wakes up very early and sleeps late, all this time you can expect a call more when he is trying to clarify something,” he said.
