An analysis by the Star on Nyoro's heightened countrywide tours since January 10, shows that the Kiharu MP has made 15 trips in 60 days.
There are silent murmurs in Nyoro's United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party about the second-term MP's agenda and ultimate objective.
The 39-year-old Kenyatta University Economist was among the few who fought hard to be President Wiliam Ruto's running mate in 2022 but lost to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Not an ordinary MP
The MP considered by his peers as an ambitious leader is one of the few richest politicos within the Kenya Kwanza ranks, beating most senior politicians including ministers.
Nyoro's perceived massive financial war chest is seen as crucial in his countrywide tours, receiving numerous invitations from his colleagues to lead in several school and church fundraisers.
"Nyoro is not an ordinary MP, he is a member of President Ruto's inner circle and an influential linchpin who cannot be wished away from Ruto's succession matrix," political analyst Alexander Nyamboga said.
Nyamboga observed that Nyoro has mastered President Ruto's political rule book that saw him traverse the country as DP, building massive support that delivered him to State House despite serious resistance.
"Nyoro's eyes are definitely in 2032 when President Ruto retires but being young and ambitious, he has started early enough to build his popularity,'' he said.
Jitters
Nyoro's heightened tours across the country have already sparked jitters in Kenya Kwanza with some leaders uncomfortable with his unclear agenda.
Others have embraced Nyoro's larger-than-life ambitions and want to ride on that to get help in Harambees in their backyards akin to Ruto's 2013-22 strategy.
Riding on his ranking as the best-performing MP in the country by Infotrak, Nyoro has sustained his frenetic tours including touring opposition strongholds.
This is against the backdrop of hashed debate about President Ruto's 2032 succession and a push to have Nyoro replace Gachagua in 2027.
A few weeks ago, Mt Kenya region had witnessed intense debate about Gachagua's replacement, forcing President Ruto to warn youthful leaders to go slow.
Leveraging on his powerful parliamentary office, Nyoro sparked speculations when on January 25 he held talks with Council of Governors chairperson Anne Waiguru and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga.
Also in the meeting was Nandi Governor Stephen Sang’.
The meeting centred on unlocking the County Government's Additional Allocation Bill, 2024.
The meeting caused disquiet within the Kenya Kwanza ranks with some high-ranking politicians in UDA questioning Nyoro’s intentions.
Kiambu Senator Karungo wa Thang’wa expressed his concerns against the MP meeting with the Council of Governors alone on a matter of national interest.
“My concern lies in understanding why Ndindi would engage with the Council of Governors alone regarding a contested matter, akin to a judge meeting a suspect or witness before a hearing,” Karungo said.
