On the radar: President Ruto to launch construction of Talanta Sports Stadium

President William Ruto is today scheduled to preside over the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Talanta Sports stadium.

The event will take place at the Jamhuri grounds on Ngong Road.

The 60,000-capacity stadium is one of the host venues earmarked for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba alongside Principal Secretary Peter Tum and other officials toured the site on Tuesday.

The construction of the project was approved by the Cabinet in October 2023  as part of Kenya's commitment to hosting the 38th edition of the continental tournament.

The government had earlier contemplated building the stadium in Shanzu, Mombasa.

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has been tasked with overseeing the construction of the project.

KDF is also refurbishing Moi Kasarani Stadium and the development of Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret.

Ruto is later expected to also preside over the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Global Center on Adaptation Africa Headquarters at the Kenya School of Government.

Global Center on Adaptation CEO Patrick Verkooijen will attend.

Embu farmers' field day

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua will grace the Kenya Dairy Board Embu farmers' field day.

The event will be held at the KALRO headquarters in Embu town.

CS Kindiki Kisii, Nyamira tour

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki will be in Kisii and Nyamira counties for a series of meetings.

He will hold separate meetings with leaders, county security teams and other stakeholders from the two counties in a bid to address rising insecurity in the areas.

Africa4Haiti

Africa4Haiti and the United States International University-Africa (USIU-Africa) will today host a public lecture.

Haiti Prime Minister Ariel Henry and Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing'oei at the USIU-Africa Auditorium are expected to attend.

KEPSA

KEPSA in partnership with The Deutsche Gesellschaftfür Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH will launch dual TVET training program that combines apprenticeships within companies and vocational education, where students are trained on industry skills.

It will be held at at the Sarova Panafric, Nairobi.
