Three children who were involved in a 1 am fire incident in the Ikolomani subcounty have succumbed to their injuries.

Ikolomani Deputy County Commissioner Geoffrey Mayama said that the three minors were pronounced dead on arrival at the Kakamega County Referral Hospital.

Their mother Jane Mutambi, 35 is fighting fie her life at the same facility where she was rushed during the incident.

“This family was living in a rental house at Lihrembe and it is suspected that the candle they had lit fell while they were asleep causing the fire,” Mayama said.

The administrator said that one of the deceased children was in grade two while others were aged 10 and 12 years.

Bodies of the minors are at the Kakamega County Funeral Parlour.
