The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) elections are currently underway in various parts of the county with the main focus being the selection of a new president to succeed Eric Theuri whose term has officially concluded.

The LSK presidency, with a non-renewable two-year term, holds a critical role in steering the society's direction.

Also to be elected is the society’s vice president and LSK male representative to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

The exercise which started early Thursday morning and is set to end at 5 pm is being conducted in all the law courts across the country.

The upcoming president, once elected, will mark the 51st individual to assume the prestigious role since the society’s inception.

Theuri took over Nelson Havi.

Various candidates also showed up for the process which is as highly guarded as the national polls are.

The elections are taking place at the Milimani Ceremonial Hall.

The hall does not have a ramp to enable persons living with disabilities to access meaning that any advocate on a wheel chair has to wait just outside the room to vote.
