President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua are set to embark on an extensive three-day development tour of the Mt Kenya region starting today (Wednesday).

The duo is scheduled to traverse Kiambu, Murang’a, Kirinyaga and Nyeri counties with a detailed itinerary including visits to specific constituencies.

Case challenging LSK elections to proceed for hearing.

The High Court will be hearing a case in which a city advocate Shadrack Wambui is seeking to stop the Law Society of Kenya elections.

Wambui moved to the court after the LSK Ad-Hoc Elections Board locked him out of the position of the Nairobi Representative 2024-2026.

The elections are slated for February 29.

Raila: Joho, Oparanya free to vie for ODM leader position.

ODM leader Raila Odinga now says that former governors Hassan Joho and Wycliffe Oparanya are free to vie for ODM party leader position.

He said that should the members feel that he is tired and it is time for someone new to lead the party, he will fully support their decision.

The former Prime minister added that he is not indispensable and he can move on to doing other things, should ODM members want another person to take charge of the party.

EACC recovery suit of Sh1.9bn against Waititu to proceed.

A case in which EACC is seeking to recover Sh1.9 billion worth of assets from former Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu is expected to proceed today.

The matter has been listed for a ruling but it is not clear what the ruling is about.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission went after Waititu’s assets saying he acquired the assets through unexplained means.

Energy Committee summons EPRA DG.

The Energy Committee has summoned EPRA DG Daniel Kiptoo to appear before it on Thursday.

This follows the Embakasi gas explosion which resulted in deaths.

Several people have been arrested in connection with the blast.

Dark Valentine

Dark Valentine will be held at the University of Nairobi Graduation Square from 4 pm to 7 pm.

In a move to push legislative bodies to act on the rising cases of women's deaths through femicide, a vigil to commemorate their lives will be held.

Ash Wednesday 

The Catholic faithful worldwide began the 40-day lent period on February 14, ahead of the Easter season where they will celebrate the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The Lent season mainly focuses on the Christians' hearts on prayer and repentance starting with Ash Wednesday.

Ash Wednesday, therefore, marks the first day of the 40-day Lenten period and is the preparation, leading to the Holy Week, which celebrates the Passion, death and resurrection of Christ.
