The Attorney General has lost a bid to have Kuppet and the LSK stopped from participating in a case challenging the payment of school fees through the e-Citizen platform.

The AG had opposed their joinder in the case filed by Nakuru-based Dr Benjamin Gikenyi saying they have not sufficiently demonstrated their interest in the matter.

But Justice Chacha Mwita in allowing their joinder reminded the state office of the mandate of the LSK which is to advise and assist members of the legal profession, the government and the larger public in all matters relating to the administration of justice in Kenya.

The two will now become the sixth and seventh interested parties in the case.

Others are the Council of Governors, Kenya secondary school heads association, Kenya primary school heads association, Kenya parents association and the consumer federation of Kenya.

At the same time, the Judge extended orders suspending the circular issued by Education PS Belio Kipsang requiring parents to pay school fees through the e-citizen platform.

The judge said he does not see any prejudice the government will suffer if the orders are extended to April 17 when the matter is set for hearing.
