Ruto: I'll ensure every ward has digital hub

He said that 1,000,000 youth will benefit from the digital opportunities set by the government

President William Ruto has announced that he has already signed off on a new plan for the Constituency Development Fund for building ICT hubs in every ward.

The President spoke on Sunday during a church service held in Kakamega.

He expressed his plan to ensure every ward has a digital hub.

“Tumekubaliana na hawa wabunge mimi nimetia sahihi kwa sheria mpya ya CDF tunaweka  ICT hub katika kila ward ," Ruto said.

“The MPs will build the hubs and I will provide the computers and before the end of this year Kakamega will receive 15,00 computers,” he said.

He said that 1,000,000 youth will benefit from the digital opportunities set by the government through the hubs in various wards and counties.

“Kila TVET itakuwa na computers nimepeana ya Khiswero, nimepanga ya Kivaywa , Busiangala, nimepanga ya Shamerere hadi uko mpaka Kongoni kule Lukuyani,”Ruto said.

He emphasized that the country has gotten opportunities for digital jobs as he spoke of a youth in Khiswero who earns 800 dollars through digital jobs.

“I want us to understand that the challenge of unemployment needs a deliberate program, an intentional program of creating jobs, that is why we need housing, digital jobs, that is why we are in bilateral labour agreements to export our labour to streamline our economy that is how we are going to drive poverty out of our country,” Ruto said.
