LSK vice president Faith Odhiambo has called out leaders over the sustained war of words against the judiciary, saying it was putting a massive dent in the rule of law.

Odhiambo said hostility towards the arm of government has continued to gain traction and painted the courts as corrupt which is the opposite.

“We advise the president William Ruto to change course now and stop this narrative. It is visiting a massive dent in the rule of law and administration of justice,” she said.

She has also asked deputy president Rigathi Gachagua to keep his promise of presenting a petition to the Judicial Service Commission against a judge he claimed had integrity issues.

The candidate for LSK presidency said the move by the DP to single out High Court Judge Esther Maina was counterproductive and dangerous.

“It is troubling that people in power, are now actualizing the "Mambo ni matatu" mantra, singling out judges for profiling, public mudslinging and recrimination,” she said, adding that:

“It is worth remembering that the Hon. judge singled out here made an adverse decision against DP Rigathi Gachagua.”

She said that as the DP does that, she hoped his claim would be accompanied by credible evidence.

“We also ask the DP to honour his word and present the petition on Thursday as he promised, and we hope watertight evidence will be adduced.”

The deputy president had said on Sunday that he would present a petition for removal of the judge at 2 pm on Thursday this week.

The judge was involved in the Sh200 million corruption case that saw the court order that the money be frozen.
