The Head of Public Service Felix Koskei has asked civil servants to dress informally at work from Wednesday to Jamhuri Day on December 12.

Koskei said the dress code should amplify the continental youth meeting, the YouthConnekt Africa Summit, which Kenya is hosting December 8-11, 2023 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre.

“From tomorrow until Jamhuri Day, let's embrace dress down stylish and presentable casual wear, amplifying the Africa YouthConnekt Summit vibes that we're proudly hosting from December 8-1, 2023, Koskei said.

He asked civil servants to wear a jersey from their favourite Kenyan or African team, “whether it's athletics, Harambee Stars, Shujaa, or Malkia.”

“Let's rock those jerseys with pride,” he said in a statement.

YouthConnekt Africa Hub is a Pan-African platform that seeks to empower young people by enhancing their knowledge, experiences and skills while investing in their ideas, innovations and initiatives.

It aims to ensure Africa makes progress in harnessing its demographic dividends by 2030.

Hosted by the Government of Kenya in partnership with the YouthConnekt Africa Hub and UNDP, the 6th edition of the YouthConnekt Africa Summit is expected to convene over 20,000 young people, government officials, corporate leaders and development champions.

This year's Summit aims to spotlight youth leadership and innovation for Africa's integration through policy discussions, storytelling and networking, and entrepreneur-focused programmes including marketplace and investor meetings.

The YouthConnekt Africa has evolved into the largest business and policy convener on youth development in Africa.
