Kikuyu MP and National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah has continued with his onslaught against Azimio leader Raila Odinga over his oil deal remarks.

Speaking in Nyandarua on Saturday, Ichung’wah said Raila was misleading the public adding that he will silence him with the truth.

This is after Raila on Thursday claimed that the President William Ruto-led administration did not sign any agreement with Saudi Arabia, but rather it was signed between the Ministry of Energy and State-owned companies in the Middle East

But speaking when he accompanied Ruto during a working tour in Ndia in Kirinyaga county, the UDA MP alleged that Raila was in the oil business and the current measures by the government were hurting him.

“He knows he was the sole guarantor and underwriter of deep state, state capture and corruption which made oil prices go up and our shilling weaken because they hoarded and knows the truth,” Ichung’wah said.

“He know, him together with those he was with in the handshake government were doing business with Kenyan oil that is why he is hurt because the government they were brokering is shut,” he added.

In his ‘dossier’, Raila had also called on Kenya's investigative bodies;  EACC and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to probe the tax compliance status and pricing model of the three oil companies.

Turning to the taxman, Raila also asked Kenya Revenue Authority,  to come clean on the tax compliance status of the three oil companies.

"KRA should also explain why they are being enabled to evade billions in taxes while ordinary Kenyans are being harassed for taxes," he said.

Ichung’wah has however maintained it was the pledge of the Kenya Kwanza government to ensure Kenyans reap maximum benefits and are elated from poverty, saying the oil deal was one of the ways to ensure money which was being lost is diverted back to the benefit of ordinary Kenyans.

“We know he is into oil business and we know his business is weakening but it is better that the money should come back to the pockets of Kenyans,” Ichung’wah said.

Raila said the deal had failed to address the intended issues noting that the cost of oil has not come down since the deal was signed.

“Well, the deal was a scam for which we now demand full disclosure and full accountability. It is corrupt and rotten to the core,” Raila said.

President William Ruto's government opted for government-to-government oil supply contracts in March this year after the shilling tumbled to record lows.

But Raila raised concern that instead, land-locked countries that depend on Kenya for oil are abandoning the pipeline because it has become too expensive.
