Kenya signs four MoUs with Romania

Kenya and Romania on Tuesday signed four major Memorandum of Understanding.

The signing took place at State House on Tuesday when Romanian President Klaus Iohannis visited President William Ruto.

The two Heads of State witnessed as their Ministers signed the agreements.

President Ruto said that together with his counterpart, they took note of the long cordial relationship that exists between Kenya and Romania.

"I'm confident that the implementation of the four MoUs will escalate into an effective partnership in areas of focus and create conditions for Kenya and Romania to expand the scope of collaboration to cover even more sectors," he said.

The first MOU was about Environment and Protection and Climate change.

The objective of the MOU is to maintain and strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of environmental protection and climate change based on equality, reciprocity and mutual benefits.

Kenya and Romania also signed an MoU on cooperation in the field of sanitary Veterinary and food safety.

Its objective is to ensure effective cooperation in the field of sanitary Venator Veterinary and food safety by encouraging mutual trade of food products in accordance with the National legislation of the two state parties.

The third MOU was on Agricultural Research and Cooperation whose objective is to promote and encourage economic, scientific and technical cooperation between the Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences and the Kenya agricultural livestock research organization in the field of agriculture and environment.

The last MoU was on cooperation between the Romanian diplomatic Institutes and the Foreign Service Academy of Kenya.

The objective of the MOU is to give priority to joint research, introduction and collaboration of more than methods for training diplomats and specialists in the area of foreign policy, international relations and other relevant areas.

Both states intend to keep each other informed on research and teaching techniques in the areas mentioned above to exchange relevant literature and publications.

In addition, President Ruto said that together with his Romanian counterpart, they have resolved to continuously work together in the bilateral and multilateral spheres to promote and support the achievement of the global development agenda, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
