Two die after falling from upper floors in Nairobi

Police are investigating two separate incidents in which two people died after falling from high rise buildings in Nairobi.

The incidents are the latest in a series that have been reported to authorities, police said, adding investigations are ongoing.

The first incident happened in Highrise, Westlands, where the body of a woman was found on a farm next to a building. She had fallen from the eighth floor of the adjacent building to the farm and died.

Witnesses said the woman had arrived at the parking lot of the building and parked her car there before she jumped in an apparent suicide. She left a suicide note, guards there claimed.

The motive of the same is yet to be known and police are investigating the incident. The body was picked up from the farm and taken to the mortuary after the Monday morning incident.

Elsewhere, police are investigating an incident in which a plumber died after falling from the third floor of a building along Luthuli Avenue, Nairobi.

The victim identified as Peter Karanja Muturi had been on duty on Saturday afternoon when he fell off.

He landed head-first on the first floor of the adjacent building sustaining serious injuries.

Police said he was rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment. Police say they are investigating the circumstances under which the incident happened.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other procedures.
