The British Monarch King Charles III and Queen Camilla have arrived at Mtongwe Naval Base aboard the Admiral’s Barge in Mombasa.

The two arrived even as heavy security was witnessed around the area.

King Charles was wearing his Royal Marine tie as Captain General.

On the other hand, the Queen was wearing Anna Valentine's pink chiffon tunic and white palazzo trousers with no significant jewelry.

Their Majesties were welcomed at the Base by President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto.

Other officials present are; the Ministry of Defence CS, the Chief of Defence Forces, and the Commanders of the Kenya Army, Navy and Air Force.

Accompanied by the President and the Commander of the Kenyan Navy, His Majesty proceeded to the dais for a salute by the Guard of Honour.

This was followed by the British and Kenyan national anthems, played by a military band as the team stood to respect the anthems.

The King was then invited to inspect the Guard of Honour before he marched towards the army.

The Monarch will be in Mombasa on Thursday and Friday this week where security has been enhanced ahead of their tour of the area.

According to the British High Commission, the King is visiting the naval base as Captain General of the Royal Marines.

“There, Their Majesties will witness Kenyan Marines, trained by the Royal Marines, demonstrating a covert beach landing, showing defense collaboration in action,” the website states.

King Charles was announced as Captain General Royal Marines last year, on the 358th anniversary of the founding of the Corps.

Widely acknowledged as one of the world’s elite fighting forces, the Royal Marine Commandos are the amphibious troops of the Royal Navy.

As Prince of Wales, The King embarked on a career in the Royal Navy, undergoing training at the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines in Lympstone, Devon, in order to qualify as a helicopter pilot.

His Majesty later served alongside Royal Marines on board HMS Hermes, as part of the 845 Naval Air Squadron, completing military exercises in the Western Atlantic and the West Indies.

The King and Queen Camilla arrived in Kenya on Monday night for a four-day state visit to the country.

Their Majesties' visit is at the invitation of President Ruto and comes as Kenya prepares to celebrate 60 years of independence.
