A helicopter crew on Thursday rescued passengers of a lorry who were stuck in raging floods in Samburu in a heroic move.

In the video on X, the passengers were traveling in the lorry when it got overwhelmed by the raging water currents.

Reports indicate there were eight people in the lorry and they were traveling from Isiolo to Wamba market in Samburu.

In the video, the passengers of the lorry can be seen sitting on top of the lorry waiting anxiously for help to come their way.

The lorry on which they were sitting was already submerged in the floods with only a small part remaining.

In a daring move, the helicopter arrives at the scene and descends at the spot where the lorry is submerged, nearly touching the waters,  to allow the stranded passengers time to board before flying away.

Those rescued include a pregnant woman and three children.

People who were watching from a distance can be heard cheering on hoping the stranded crew can be saved.

This comes barely a day after the Kenya Metrological Department warned of heavy downpours that will be experienced across the country.

The weatherman thus advised residents in all 47 counties to be on the lookout for potential floods.

The Met Department in their latest advisory has warned that heavy rainfall is likely to lead to strong winds that might blow off roofs, uproot trees and cause structural damages.

“Residents are advised to avoid driving through or walking in moving water or open fields and not to shelter under trees and near grilled windows when raining to minimize exposure to lightning strikes,” the weatherman warned.

“People in landslide-prone areas especially over the slopes of the Aberdare ranges, Mt Kenya and other hilly areas over the western region should be vigilant,” it warned.

To safeguard lives and property, the forecast says it is of utmost importance that the general public exercises caution during these weather conditions.
