A 21-year-old man has been sentenced to 15 years in jail for defiling a minor.
Senior Resident Magistrate David Odhiambo ruled that there was compelling evidence to convict and jail Isaac Juma Odhiambo for defilement.
The accused is said to have committed the offence on diverse dates between March and November 2021 at an unknown time in the Kibarani area of Jomvu Sub County within Mombasa County.
The minor was aged 13 years.
In his ruling, Odhiambo stated that the accused failed to unshackle himself from the offence due to the magnitude of the evidence adduced by five prosecution witnesses.
The court stated that the prosecution, through Senior Prosecution Counsel Barbara Sombo discharged its burden of proof before proceeding to jail the accused.
