Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) Assistant Secretary Angela Luchivya has been nominated as the president of the FIBA Africa Zone 5 Women Commission.
Luchivya, a former national team player and 2007 All Africa Games Overall assistant captain, replaces Ugandan Joy Olinga, who has moved to take her position at the FIBA Africa Central Board.
Part of her mandate is to ensure the women's game in the region is at par with the rest of the continent.
KBF chairman Paul Otula described Luchivya's current position as a great honour in the region.
On the league front, Storms coach Abel Nson said there will be fireworks when his team meets Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology on Saturday at Nyayo National Stadium.
The tactician revealed that new signings Barbra Diana Achieng, formerly with women champions Kenya Ports Authority, and Equity Hawks' Lindsey Nandako will be unleashed on the Juja-based students.
“I like my additions and I think the team is becoming as deep as I would need it to be," said Nson adding, that the team now has the necessary depth they need and a younger team that will push the pace.
