Police are investigating an incident in which a civilian firearms holder was robbed of his pistol loaded with 15 bullets in a robbery at a bar in Kahawa West, Nairobi.

His brother was shot and wounded by a ricocheting bullet in the drama, police said.

The victim told police he had gone to a restaurant to meet a relative on Monday afternoon when two gunmen confronted him.

The victim, Joseph Ndirangu Munene is a licensed gun holder. He is a businessman in the sand business.

He said he was meeting his brother in the restaurant when two men confronted him at gunpoint.

Police suspect the gunmen knew he was armed.

Munene told police two men armed with a pistol confronted him and his brother in the bar and ordered them to lie down before they grabbed the pistol.

The gang also robbed him of Sh3,000 and a mobile phone and other revelers including the owner of the joint.

He said he was robbed of his Ceska pistol with 15 bullets.

While leaving hurriedly one of the robbers fired one shot aiming at the victim but missed the target and it ricocheted from the wall slightly bruising the other reveller at the back of his head.

They then jumped onto an unmarked motorcycle and fled towards Ruiru's general direction along the Northern bypass.

Police visited the scene minutes later but no arrest or recovery made so far.

Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said they are investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, two suspects were Tuesday arrested and assorted police equipment was recovered from them in the Obama estate, Kayole.

Police said they recovered three blue shirts with sergeant chevron, one jungle trouser, one smoke jacket, one ceremonial jacket, one beret with a head badge, one jungle strap, one multipurpose belt, a sling, a numeral number, a cane stick and cap peak head badge.

The items were stashed in a green sack at the time of the recovery, police said.

The items were found in a house behind a popular club in the area and are suspected to have been stolen from a police line.

Police said they are investigating the motive of owning the items.
