Infrastructure, resources are key to success of CBC - Gachagua

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said the Competency-Based Curriculum needs a lot of infrastructure and resources for it to succeed.

He spoke on Saturday when he paid a visit to learners at Mawingo Girls Secondary School in Kipipiri Constituency, Nyandarua County. 

The Deputy President said he has identified areas that need improvement on infrastructure in the institution. 

"Under the Competency Based Curriculum, aligning infrastructure to meet the demands of this system is a major focus of the Kenya Kwanza Administration for quality outcomes," Gachagua said. 

Gachagua said if all schools across the country get enough resources and infrastructure, then the CBC system will ultimately contribute to Nation building.

He said it was a joyous moment being with the learners, who showed utmost enthusiasm and commitment to excel in their studies, even as the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education starts soon.

"I congratulate the host MP Wanjiku Muhia for supporting the secondary school and other learning institutions for better performance," the Deputy President said.

Gachagua was accompanied to Mawingo Girls Secondary School by Trade and Investments CS Rebecca Miano, Nyandarua Governor Kiarie Badilisha and his Deputy Mathaara Mwangi.

Kipipiri MP Wanjiku Muhia was the host.

Gachagua also took a tour of Kipipiri Technical and Vocational Training College. 

He said Technical and Vocational Training Colleges are a key impetus to imparting key skills for self-employment.

"During my educational tour of Kipipiri Constituency, Nyandarua County, I visited Kipipiri Technical and Vocational Training College to understand the gaps and needs of the institution for appropriate interventions for quality skills," he said. 

The DP said President William Ruto's administration will continue to work with MPs, Governors, and other leaders in improving tertiary institutions to effectively deliver on their mandate.

"It is one of the surest ways of tackling unemployment," he said. 

Other leaders present were  Nyandarua  Woman Representative Faith Gitau, Senator Methu Muhia, Nairobi Deputy Governor James Muchiri and  Kiambu Woman Rep Anne Wa Muratha.

The MPs present were Michael Muchira (Ol Joro Ok), Onesmus Ngogoyo (Kajiado North), Peter Kihungi (Kangema) and  James Gakuya (Embakasi North).
