Afro Glow: Radio Africa Events to celebrate upcoming African artistes

The celebration will be held at the Nairobi Skate City on October 14

Radio Africa Group, in conjunction with Radio Africa Events, will on October 14, 2023, launch an event aimed at celebrating upcoming African artistes in contemporary music.

The celebration will be held at the Nairobi Skate City, seeking to attract a young audience aged between 18 -30 years.

Tickets are already available on Ticket Yetu, priced at Sh1,500 at the gate and Sh1,000 for advance purchase. 

For a group of six, the ticket will cost Sh7,500. 

At the event dubbed 'Afro Glow,' Coster Ojwang, Bridget Blue, and Muthaka will be the debut artistes at the celebrations. 

Radio Africa is focusing on offering a stage, a voice, and unprecedented exposure to aspiring artistes, with this, the Group hopes to create a platform for the artistes where their music and messages can resonate and be heard by not only their fans but everyone across Africa.

Drille became popular with his hit song 'How Are You, My Friend', and had a  breakout moment when he released the cover 'Awww' by Di'Ja. 

The 33- year-old Nigerian star is currently signed to Mavin Records owned by Don Jazzy.

Best known for his track, 'Manyo Pesa,' Coster Ojwang has effortlessly blended music and art to create a captivating and soul-stirring experience.

Coster's music resonates with depth, soulfulness, and positive vibrations, touching hearts and evoking a sense of connection to the world around us.

He has been known for drawing inspiration from his roots and infusing his art with spiritual manifestations, a deep love for nature, and the tapestry of life experiences.

The second Kenyan artiste at the celebration will be Muthaka. 

She writes, arranges, and performs her own original compositions in her unique musical style and uses her voice to convey a different range of emotions.

In 2022, Muthaka received a Cafe Ngoma nomination 2022 for Soulful Artist of the Year, and in September of the same year, the artiste received her first  AFRIMA nomination in two Categories.

The categories were; Best Female Artiste in Eastern Africa, and Songwriter of The Year. 

She was crowned Best Female Artiste in East Africa. 

Popularly known for her hit and widely watched song 'Kesho' Bridget Blue has encouraged her fans through the song to persevere despite life's challenges.

The songwriter has also created hits like 'Woman' and 'Goodbye' 

In previous interviews with KISS 100, Bridget said she never thought she would fully venture into music, as she was doing covers for fun while still in high school.

She defines her sound as a mix of everything, mainly RnB and Soul, for it's a nice subtle way to express herself.

Radio Africa Group Business Development Lead Ezekiel Owino, said the event was not just about entertainment but about creating a community and a movement. 

"A space where the music of this generation can thrive and be celebrated," Owino said.   

Owino added that the event will mark the beginning of many more gatherings where the voices of new and emerging artistes can echo and be acknowledged.

"Radio Africa envisions this event as the inaugural edition of what will become a regular fixture on its calendar, signalling its commitment to nurturing and promoting new musical talents," he said.
