Detectives are investigating an incident in which the body of a woman was found in a lodging in Emali, Makueni.

The body was found in one of the rooms of a lodging in the area on Tuesday.

A suspected assailant who had spent the night with the woman was missing then, police and the lodging management said.

Police said they were called and informed the management found the body in one of the rooms.

It is suspected she was strangled after an argument. But the assailant is yet to be arrested, police said.

According to police, blood was oozing from her nose, and the room door was found wide open.

An assailant is being sought, police said.

The body was moved to the mortuary.

An autopsy is planned on the body to establish how she died even as the hunt for the suspected killer goes on.

Police have since established a man had come with the woman to the club before they retired to the room.

A murder probe was opened and police say they are pursuing good leads on the possible assailant.

Statistics show such murder incidents are common in the area. 

The area is a major highway where motorists stop for various reasons, which some officials blame for the trend.

Police are investigating the murder of a 21-year-old man whose body was found on a footpath in Kosele, Rachuonyo in Homa Bay County.

The body of Elly Ochieng, a resident of Waswa village was found on a corridor between two structures.

The body had two deep cuts in the head and blood was oozing from the mouth when it was discovered on September 25.

Police and residents said he was last seen at Kosele Center at around 8 pm the previous day.

The motive behind the murder is yet to be known.

Police said they have yet to know those behind the murder, if any.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and further probe, police said.
