Narok Senator Ledama Olekina has called for new legislation enacted to have Deputy Governors vacate their positions once their Governors are impeached.
In a post on X on Saturday, Ledama said an impeached governor ought to go home with his entire government, including the Chief Executive Committee members and Chief Officers he appointed.
"It’s time to amend the Law and the Constitution of Kenya so that, when a Governor is impeached he should go home with his/her government as per article 179 of the constitution," he said.

In his opinion, Deputy Governors have grown horns which will be cut down to size using new legislation.
"Deputy Governors are becoming mischievous," Ledama said.
Currently, the Constitution in Article 182 envisions that should a governor's office become vacant for whatever reason, the deputy governor will assume office as county governor for the remainder of the term of the county governor.
Once the Deputy governor assumes office as county governor, they shall be deemed to have served a full term as county governor if, at the date on which the person assumed office, more than two and a half years remain before the date of the next regularly scheduled election.
The constitution further stated that a person who assumes the office of county governor under Article 182 shall, unless otherwise removed from office under the Constitution, hold office until the newly elected county governor assumes office following the next election.
