National Treasury Principal Secretary Chris Kiptoo has called on all government ministries, departments and agencies to ensure that they close all outstanding audit issues for the last two financial years.

Kiptoo in a statement on Friday said all Ministries, Departments and Agencies have until October 2 to submit the outstanding audit reports for the financial years 2021/22 and 2022/23.

This follows a meeting at the Kenya School of Government on Thursday where the issue of outstanding audits for the financial years 2021/22 and 2022/23 was raised.

The Thursday Consultative Engagement Forum was convened by the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei with all the Principal Secretaries and Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of State Corporations to address the outstanding audits.

"In the above meeting, it was directed that all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) ensure that they close all outstanding audit issues raised by the Office of Auditor General in her audit reports for the proceeding financial years (i.e. 2021/22, 2022/23)," Kiptoo said.

He said closing all the outstanding audits is in line with the Government's Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

"You are further required to submit proof of closure of these issues directly to the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service by 2nd October 2023," he said.

Kiptoo said a copy of the audit reports should also be submitted to the Principal Secretary and the National Treasury.
