President William Ruto has led other Kenyans in congratulating Shujaa after the team qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games on Sunday.
The sevens rugby team who were underdogs heading into the final, defeated South Africa 17-12 in Harare, Zimbabwe, to qualify for the quadrennial show for the third time in a row.
Ruto said he was thrilled by Shujaa’s incredible show against South Africa.
"You have all our support as you prepare for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Hongera!"
Gachagua said Shujaa's qualification signifies their indomitable spirit to represent Kenya in Paris next year.
"Hearty congratulations to the Kenya Sevens for qualifying for 2024 Paris Olympics after emphatically beating South Africa 17-12 in the Rugby Main Cup Final of the Africa qualifiers," he said in an X post.
Raila said Shujaa's outstanding performance is commendable, urging the team to keep up the great work.
"Congratulations, Shujaa! Kenya 7s has become the Rugby Africa Sevens Champions by defeating South Africa 17-12, securing a spot in the 2024 Olympics Games in Paris," he said.
Other leaders; Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, and ex-Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko have also sent in their congratulatory messages.
