Kiambu Senator Karungo Thang’wa has offered to reconcile county governor Kimani Wamatangi and Members of the County Assembly following a political standoff.

The senator said he has convened a leaders' meeting next week to find a lasting solution to the squabbles that are threatening service delivery.

According to Thang'wa, the meeting will also be attended by all Members of Parliament from the county in a bid to iron out the differences.

“We shall have a leaders meeting before Friday next week with a view of unlocking the row among leaders which is not only denting the image of the county but also retarding general development,” Thang'wa said.

"The meeting will be attended by all the 12 Members of Parliament from Kiambu, all the 86 Members of County Assembly and we also expect the governor to attend.”

There have been sharp differences pitting Wamatangi against MCAs who have claimed that they are being frustrated by the governor's administration.

The MCAs have threatened to start an impeachment motion against Wamatangi and even appealed to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to mediate the standoff.

But Wamatangi has rubbished claims that he has isolated other leaders in the running of the county terming critics as busy bodies out to derail his development goals.

Wamatangi said that those fighting him are unhappy because of his zeal to ensure zero tolerance for corruption in the county.

“Nobody and nothing can make me lose focus on my development agenda. There will be no more corruption cartels in Kiambu. I have my eyes set on the target which is development,” he told residents of Kikuyu early this week.
