A section of Kenyans can barely remember a single campaign pledge made by the Kenya Kwanza government during the campaign period.
The latest poll by Tifa shows nearly one-fifth of all respondents (18 per cent) indicated that they could not recall any Kenya Kwanza 2022 campaign promises.
According to the poll, nearly half (47 per cent) mentioned reducing the cost of living as a campaign promise they could remember.
“Other frequently mentioned responses included assistance to small businesses (29 per cent) and employment creation (18 per cent,” the poll shows.
Fourteen per cent mentioned the provision of subsidised fertiliser, while nine per cent cited a reduction in education costs.
Three per cent said they remember the pledge to reduce government borrowing, two per cent the promise to help the needy such as orphans and widows while another two per cent remember the pledge to provide affordable housing.
The survey was conducted between September 8 and 10 using CATI (Computer-Assisted-Telephonic-Interviews) among 1,007 respondents and with a +/- 3.1 % margin of error.
The survey was conducted among a nationally representative sample spread across nine Zones of Central Rift, Coast, Lower Eastern, Mt Kenya, Nairobi, Northern, Nyanza, South Rift and Western.
The questions covered Kenyans’ current economic conditions and their awareness of Kenya Kwanza’s main campaign promises.
This includes their views as to the extent of the implementation of the promises so far and their expectations about the such implementation by the time of the next election in 2027.
