President William Ruto has rallied Kenyans to turn up and show their love for Harambee Stars when the national football team takes on Bright Stars of South Sudan on Tuesday.

In a video released by State House on Tuesday, the president asked Harambee Stars fans to come out in large numbers and cheer on their national team.

Harambee Stars will be playing a friendly match against Bright Stars at Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani from 4PM.

The President congratulated Harambee Stars for beating Qatar 2-1 during a friendly match last week at Al-Janoubi Stadium.

''Congratulations Harambee Stars for winning against Qatar national team last week. I am very happy so many Kenyans showed up in Qatar to cheer our national team,'' Ruto said.

''As you are all aware, Harambee Stars will today at 4 pm be playing against South Sudan. I want to ask all Kenyans to show up at 4 pm to cheer our champions Harambee Stars.''

This is the first time that the president is making a public appeal for Kenyan fans to come out and support the national team.

The move signifies his commitment, passion and love of the game and would go a long way in boosting morale for the Engin Firat boys when they take on their neighbours.

This is the second friendly game that Harambee Stars will be playing as it continues preparations for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers scheduled to begin in November.

Stars are in group 'F' alongside Seychelles, Burundi, Gambia, Gabon and Co'te d'Ivoire.

During last week's friendly match, defender Joseph Okumu and Amos Nondi were on target for Kenya, with Hassan Al Haydos netting the sole goal for Qatar.

Firat is hoping to continue with the winning ways for the team, after registering three wins in the eight matches that he has been in charge.

Kenya is the favourite to win Tuesday's friendly against South Sudan as they head into the game with a superior ranking by the world football governing body, Fifa at 105.

South Sudan is at position 167.

The teams last met on March 13, 2021, for a friendly match that Harambee Stars won by a solitary goal.

The boys Monday evening had a feel of the match's venue ahead of Tuesday's clash.
