KCB head coach Bernard Mwalala has hailed his charges for kicking off the season on a high with a narrow 1-0 win over AFC Leopards at Moi Stadium, Kasarani on Friday.
Derrick Otanga's 80th-minute strike was enough to separate the two sides at full-time.
Mwalala, who is overseeing his first season at the helm of the club after being handed the mantle last month, urged his squad to keep the fire burning.
"I'm so happy with today's outcome. We played well and there was seamless coordination in all the departments," Mwalala remarked.
"We hope for a repeat performance in our subsequent matches. As I said earlier, we intend to collect maximum points from all our fixtures with sights firmly fixed on the title at the end of the season," Mwalala said.
As Mwalala celebrated a perfect start to the season, his opposite number Tom Juma looked worked up by the loss.
"It's not the kind of results we had hoped for. We have only collected one point in two matches and that's worrying," Juma said.
"We need to show more commitment in our matches if we have any intentions of charging for the title," he said.
Leopards came into the match on the back of a goalless draw against FC Talanta at Nyayo Stadium last weekend.
Ingwe suffered a major setback in the 60th minute when defensive midfielder Musa Oudo was sent for an early shower after being slapped with a second yellow card.
In another thrilling encounter, mailman Posta Rangers pumped three goals past a hapless Police FC side at the Police Sacco Stadium. Muhoroni Youth and Nzoia Sugar played out to a one-all draw.
Coastal side Bandari bounced back from last weekend's 1-0 loss to Tusker to pip Sofapaka 1-0 at Kasarani Annex. Talanta FC and Shabana settled for a 1-1 draw at Moi Stadium, Kasarani.
