President William Ruto has announced his administration is inviting investors and partners to expand high-speed internet access countrywide.

Ruto said the government has prioritised the Digital Super Highway as a key driver for the country’s transformation, creation of jobs and growth.

"In addition to fibre connectivity, new emerging connectivity solutions such as satellite will be considered," he said.

Ruto was speaking at the Eldoret State Lodge on Tuesday when he held discussions with Karibu Connect, a global partner of Space X.

Present during the discussion were Elcome International CEO Jimmy Grewal and Kavit Handa Chairman Africa Capital.

The Head of State said the expansion of internet high-speed access will ensure remote parts of the country reap the economic benefits of the digital space in a cost-effective way.

The government has opened the ICT space for more investment by removing the 30 per cent local shareholding restriction, which will see more technology companies invest in Kenya.
