Former Roots Party running mate Justina Wamae has responded to claims by political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi that Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah's manifesto launch was funded to split attention from William Ruto's.

Speaking on Sunday, Wamae said Wajackoyah was not Azimio's project until the time when we were about to launch our manifesto.

"I went round the TVs telling people we had a fraud and con and everyone was against me. Let it be known the man was never a project until a few days before the Manifesto launch," she said.

Wamae further said the revelation explains why Wajackoyah resulted in violence and intimidation after their fallout.

She claimed that the former presidential candidate thought she was going to be after 'the little money he got from the state'.

"Since that day, I have never spoken to that Rastaman. Kenyans, I refused to be used as a puppet and you saw the pushback. I couldn't do much because I wasn't the owner of the party," Wamae said.

In an interview with NTV on Saturday, Ngunyi said that Azimio financed Roots Party leader's manifesto launch to reduce the hype on Ruto's, which was being launched on the same day.

He said the plan was to annoy Ruto and frustrate his ambitions.

''Our plan was to irritate him and that's why we funded Wajackoyah to launch his manifesto on the same day Ruto was also launching his UDA manifesto,'' Ngunyi said.

In the election, Azimio was backed by the state which was headed by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta.
