Matungulu MP Stephen Mule has dared Inspector General of Police Japheth Koome to name the politicians who allegedly hired bodies from morgues during the Azimio anti-government protests.

Mule was speaking on Wednesday when he visited Matungulu Girls high school in Machakos county.

"I want to address IG Koome, you went public indicating that while Kenyans demonstrated peacefully, some leaders went to hire corpses from mortuaries," he said.

"Please give us the names of those who hired the corpses, so that the perpetrators can be dealt with."

Mule also asked for the names of the bodies that were hired to allegedly paint police in bad light.

Additionally, Mule asked Koome to also gives the names of the morgues where the bodies were picked from.

"Kenyans are not fools and we are going to remind you that you have a duty to protect Kenyans and not harm them," Mule said.

He said the Constitution of Kenya 2010 allows Kenyans to demonstrate peacefully.

Political analyst Peter Kagwanja during an interview with KTN on Wednesday also urged Koome to arrest the politicians who hired the alleged corpses.

“Koome should have pounced on those who took photos in the morgue with the dead, he should have gone for them, we should now be reading it in the papers and Koome would be our hero,” he said.

“Koome had an opportunity. If what he said is true and I am sure as a Meru elder who is a member of Njuri-Ncheke he must be having the truth, why can’t you go and arraign those people that you are talking about in a court of law?”

Azimio leader Raila Odinga refuted claims by Koome and termed them as very disappointing.

"I don't know in which world he lives. Because the bodies we will be burying have bullet wounds on them and death certificates confirming the cause of death," Raila said.
