Azimio Chief Raila Odinga now claims that Tanzania's President Samia Suluhu came into the country two weeks ago to mediate over the bi-partisan talks with the Kenya Kwanza faction.

Raila said Suluhu was left hanging for the two days she was in the country and no mediation of the bi-partisan talks took place.

The ODM party leader spoke on Tuesday while addressing the international media on the crisis the country is currently in.

"She was kept waiting. We were available but the other faction was not available. Suluhu spent two nights here but it was all in vain," Raila said.

This is the first time Raila has out rightly spoken of Suluhu's visit which was not made public.

Raila added that it is not only Suluhu who has tried to mediate over the talks.

The Azimio Chief claimed there have been more people who have tried to mediate the talks but President William Ruto has refused.

"I have said I am ready to sit with the people and discuss these issues. Ruto is actually pretending and he is living in delusion that we don't have a crisis," he said.

Raila insisted that Kenya is in a serous crisis that requires patriotism to resolve.

Suluhu was meant to mediate over the political standoff between President William Ruto and Raila.

It is understood that the head of state has held at least three meetings with the opposition leader in what is seen as a quiet diplomatic approach to brokering a deal.
