Narok Senator Ledama Olekina

United Democratic Alliance Secretary General Cleophas  Malala made fun of Narok Senator Ledama Olekina's Maasai rungu.

Malala accused Olekina of being a violent man because he walks around with a 'weapon'.

Malala spoke during an interview with Citizen Tv on Wednesday night where Olekina had also been invited.

He said Olekina was the first person to exercise violence when President William Ruto was declared winner of the last general elections.

"Ledama was the person propagating violence and that is why he is used to walking with weapons. He has even come to the show with a weapon," Malala said.

Olekina, while laughing at what Malala had said, explained that the 'weapon' he was holding is a leadership tool.

"Come on! This is a leadership tool. This is amazing. You know what, it provides wisdom," the Senator said.

When it was suggested that Olekina should give the 'weapon' to Malala, the Senator said Malala is incapable of carrying it.

The rungu that Olekina always carries around is traditionally used by the Maasai in warfare and hunting.

It is commonly given to tourists as souvenirs when they visit the Maasai.

The rungu also shows one is a moran, a Maasai warrior. During tribal gatherings among the Maasai, a special rungu may be held by a designated speaker.

Former President Daniel Arap Moi also used to walk around with a rungu.

He referred to it as his 'fimbo ya nyayo'.
