Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen on Tuesday hosted World 3000 steeplechase record holder Beatrice Chepkoech at his office.
Through a statement, the CS said it was a privilege to host the athlete and her husband Peter.
Murkomen noted that as much as the world celebrated the achievements of Faith Kipyegon, behind her was a team of athletes who set the pace for her to break the world record.
"One of them is her friend Beatrice Chepkoech who in her own right is the world record holder, a world champion, and multiple winner in many races around the world," he tweeted.
"It’s a lesson in life that Non nobis solum nati sumus," he said.
This loosely translates to "We are not born for ourselves alone".
The phrase conveys the idea that human beings are not solely created to serve their own interests and needs but also have a responsibility to contribute to the greater good of society and help others.
The visit comes days after President William Ruto hosted Faith Kipyegon after she broke the 1500m world record at State House, Nairobi.
Ruto awarded her Sh5 million and a house worth Sh6 million.
This, he said, will be a reward for the two records she broke for 5,000 meters and 1,500 meters.
"She has won and broken two world records in 1500 meters in Florence Italy and 5000 in Paris, France. The government of Kenya is going to award her a total of Sh5 million for one record and we are going to give her a house worth Sh6 million for the other record," Ruto said.
The President added that it will be the same for all the other world record breakers that will come after Faith Kipyegon.
