Ten thousand people are expected to attend Madaraka Day celebrations at the Moi Stadium in Embu, Eastern regional commissioner Paul Rotich has said

The celebrations will be presided over by President William Ruto.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, Rotich said the gates will be opened as early as 4 am.

He said the government has invested heavily to ensure the celebrations are successful.

The county will be hosting the 60th Madaraka Day celebrations that will see Kenyans converge to mark one of the most valued memories.

"The infrastructure has been refurbished and ready to host the celebrations," he said.

"We also assure Kenyans that Embu is ready to host our valued visitors for the event." 

He said the county is expecting a large number and this will be embraced by providing parking slots for everyone within the County's Central Business District.

The security department has also said the VIPs and diplomats will be present at the event.

"Eastern is ready and everyone is ready for Madaraka," he said.
