Belgut MP Nelson Koech has said sensitive questions that will be directed to the National Intelligence Service director general nominee Noordin haji  will be answered in camera.

"We have touched on core mandate of the National Intelligence Services, without necessarily diverging much on operations that are sensitive, or classified, if questions are raised that will warrant the media to do so, we will oblige," he said.

This is after the outgoing Director of Public Prosecutions requested to respond in detail to matters of national security in camera.

"Honourable chair, with the strategic views that I have in matters NIS, maybe you will allow me to also expound further on some of these issues in camera," Haji said

Haji also requested not to reveal his net worth during vetting, as his net worth could be a national security issue if he gets appointed to the job.

"Chair, I am requesting to give the committee the papers and not to reveal my net worth as it will be a national security issue at some point," he said.

On May 16, President William Ruto nominated the Haji to the position through a gazette notice.

"Consequently,  it is notified that Excellency the President has, In accordance with Section 7 (1) of the National Intelligence Service Act, nominated Noordin Hajl, CBS, for appointment as the Director-General of the National Intelligence Service," Ruto said.

If appointed, Haji will return to the NIS after 6 years of serving as the Director of Public Prosecutions.
