Ministry of Tourism Chief Administrative Secretary Wilson Sossion has said that President William Ruto will in 20 years win a Nobel Prize for implementing a good housing plan.

Sossion said Ruto's housing plan is going to revolutionise the country.

He spoke on Tuesday during an interview with K24.

"I can tell you in 20 years, William Ruto will get a Nobel prize for implementing a settlement plan that is going to revolutionise this country," he said.

Sossion said good things are always resisted when they are first suggested.

Currently, Ruto's housing plans are facing resistance because of a Housing Fund he wants to put in place to support the construction of the housing units.

The President, in the Finance Bill 2023, has proposed that everyone with a payslip will be required to pay 3 per cent of their income to the Housing Fund to create a pool of funds for the construction of housing units.

He intends to build 250,000 houses per year across the country.

“I have said those who have a payslip to contribute something small so that even you can get a payslip,” Ruto said on Sunday in Busia during a church service.

Many are opposed to the Housing levy as they feel the taxes are now becoming punitive.
