Kerugoya level 5 hospital to be opened in June – Waiguru

It has a Cancer centre, High Dependency Unit, Accidents Centre, Paedriatic and Maternal wards.

Kerugoya Level 5 hospital will officially be opened in June, Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru has announced. 

Speaking during a thanksgiving service in Kirinyaga, the governor said the newly built hospital will offer specialised medical services to the residents.

"The county government has built a modern hospital at Kerogoya which will improve health services in the county. The date has been set and confirmed," Waiguru said.

The 356 bed capacity facility is expected to reduce inpatient congestion at the hospital.

"My administration has fulfilled the pledge I made to transform the Health Sector in the County, through the Mountain Cities Health and wellness Vision."

Waiguru said that President William Ruto is expected to grace the event.

The governor added that the medical complex has now upgraded the hospital from level 4 to level 5, saying the hospital has brought critical services nearer and residents will no longer travel long distances to seek treatment.

"The hospital has National Standards, and comes with a Cancer Centre unit, High Dependency Unit ( HDU) Accidents Centre, Paedriatic and Maternal wards," Waiguru noted. 

She said that her government is also upgrading Kirinyaga and Kimbimbi hospitals from level 3 hospitals to level 4. 

The county boss added that the county had also established dispensaries across the 20 wards to take services to grass root residents.

Waiguru affirmed that she had left a Health legacy in the county.
