Medics are an elated lot after receiving their union certificate from the Registrar of Trade Unions on Tuesday.

On Monday morning, the medics wanted their registration certificate issued after a court ruled in their favour in November last year.

“In November 2022, the court ordered for the registration of Kenya Environmental Health and Public Health Practitioners Union to advocate for the rights and the working conditions of public health officers and technicians,” Kenya Environmental Health and Public Health Practitioners Union Secretary General Brown Ashira said.

The health workers had threatened to commence a peaceful protest over the delay to issue their certificate.

“If action is not taken within 48 hours, we will hold a peaceful protest and camp at the office of the Registrar of Trade Unions," Ashira said.
