The Registrar of Political Parties Ann Nderitu has dismissed claims that she is taking sides in the latest wrangles that have rocked Jubilee Party.

Addressing a press conference at her office on Tuesday, Nderitu said she has not acted against the law in upholding the expulsion of Jeremiah Kioni and David Murathe from the Jubilee party.

“We implement what parties bring to us provided the law was followed in reaching those decisions,” she said.

Nderitu sought to clarify that all other party officials are still in office save for Kioni and Murathe.

“We do not make decisions for parties. What we do is to regulate the manner it is done so that the Political Parties Act is adhered to and the party constitution followed,” she said.

“We determine what has been brought before us using parameters set by the law,” she added.

Kioni has accused the ORPP of working for some individuals in the Kenya Kwanza administration.

“They are doing everything possible to snatch the party from Uhuru Kenyatta,” he stated.

Kioni said he hoped the ORPP is not being used by Kenya Kwanza to kill multi-party democracy.

He said the ORPP has become a point of interest for Azimio, the same as the IEBC and the National Treasury.

Reacting to the accusations, Nderitu said decisions made by her office are usually rejected by one side.

“Whatever decision you make, you will always be accused of dancing with the other side,” she said.

Nderitu added that ORPP implements what parties take to the office provided the law was followed in reaching the decisions.

“Disputes are normal in a political party. People will always have differences in opinion but what concerns us is how officials of the party handle the dispute to conclusion,” she said.

She called on parties to embrace good governance to lower the chances of disputes erupting.

A team allied to retired President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday held a National Delegates Convention and expelled several NEC members.

The group led by Kioni expelled a dozen officials in an attempt to reconstitute the NEC dominated by President William Ruto loyalists.
