A woman in Eldoret has stabbed her two-year-old son to death following a domestic quarrel.

The woman also injured her six-year-old daughter.

She also attempted to commit suicide by stabbing herself but was rescued by neighbours.

The woman had returned from her rural home early today and quarrelled with her husband before she took a knife and attacked the children.

Police arrived at the scene and took the body of the deceased to the morgue while the injured child was admitted at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.

The woman said she was distressed by family problems and did not intend to kill her children though she was overwhelmed by anger.

She asked for forgiveness.

"I have been having problems but no one wanted to listen to me. I have done this out of extreme anger and plead for forgiveness," she said.

She said after getting angry she decided to die with all her children instead of suffering with no help.

Grace Onyango a Nyuma Kumi member said she heard people raising alarm that a mother had killed her children.

"We went to the house and found that she had already killed one child and the other one was in critical condition," Onyango said.

Onyango said the woman complained that she was tired of suffering in life and yet no one helped her out.

Turbo subcounty OCPD Edward Masibo confirmed the incident and said investigations were going on.
