Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki is set to have a busy Thursday as he performs his national administration duties.
The CS will first start by assessing the progress, successes, and challenges of Operation Maliza Uhalifu in Baringo County.
The operation is meant to help put a stop to the cultural practice of banditry in the area.
"Focus areas will be Ng’elecha Hills, Tandare Valley, Arabal, Korkoron Hills," Head of Strategic Communications at the Ministry Francis Gachuri said.
Thereafter, Kindiki will attend the graduation of 200 National Police Reservists at Kimalel, Baringo County.
Kindiki will preside over the ceremony.
Though the CS had recently declared that the fight against banditry is so far turning out to be successful, on Wednesday he announced a 30-day extension of the orders declaring six counties in the North Rift as dangerous.
"The orders I issued on March 12, 2023, declaring parts of the six counties of North Rift Valley disturbed and dangerous are hereby extended by another 30 days," he said.
They include West Pokot, Elgeyo Marakwet, Laikipia, Baringo, Samburu, and Turkana.
He said the operation was going to will end when all the bandits and armed criminals were completely dealt with.
Kindiki said there were criminals still holed up at Mukogodo Forest, assuring that they were working to flush them out.
