Mother's Day: Ruto pens special message to women

President William Ruto has led other leaders in sending well wishes to women to mark Mother's Day. 

In a tweet, the President said everyone has a sacred duty to do everything possible to lighten the burden borne by mothers. 

"To increase the love and deepen the bonds that hold the family together as the fundamental unit of society," he said. 

Ruto said he salutes all mothers today for their labours of love which keep us going and the world moving. 

"We make this world a better place whenever we put a smile on a mother's face and the longer we keep it there, the closer we are to sustainable development," Ruto said.

"Each one of us is born of a mother. Let us, therefore, give honour to motherhood by making life, work, health and family better for mothers everywhere."

"Happy Mother's Day to all of the outstanding mothers out there! Your love, strength, and sacrifices shape generations. May your days be filled with blessings and happiness," he said.
