Shakahola cult: 22 more bodies exhumed, exercise suspended for 2 days

One of Mackenzie's followers was also arrested during the rescue operation

Detectives from the Homicide Unit unit have exhumed 22 bodies in the Shakahola massacre.

The victims are believed to be followers of controversial preacher Paul Mackenzie who died of starvation to meet their creator.

One of Mackenzie's followers was also arrested during the rescue operation bringing to 26 the total of people arrested so far.

Coast regional commissioner Rhoda Onyancha said so far the operation has been suspended until Monday

"Operation takes 2 days break to resume on Monday," she said.

"So far 610 people have been reported missing at the tracing centre."
