Baby dies after slipping from epileptic mother’s hands

The mother was sitting on the balcony with the child when the incident happened

A seven-month-old baby died after she slipped from her epileptic mother’s hands at their residence along Kirinyaga Road, Nairobi, on Wednesday, May 10.

She slipped from the hands of the mother and fell fromthe fifth floor of their house and died on the spot, police said.

The baby’s father said the wife, who is epileptic was carrying the child at the balcony of their Orbit House residence when she experienced the attack.

This made her lose control of the baby as she was alone and the baby slipped off.

The child was rushed to Park Road Nursing Home where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police transferred the body to Pangani Mosque for preservation and autopsy ahead of planned burial.

Police say they are investigating the incident, said Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei.

Elsewhere, police are investigating an incident in which the body of a 35-year-old man was found in his house in Shauri Moyo area, Nairobi.

Daniel Maingi had not reported to his place of work since May 8 prompting his workmates and bosses to check on him at his house in Blue Estate.

Police said it was then he was found him dead on the floor of his house.

The caretaker of the house reported that the deceased had earlier complained of general body pain on May 9. His body was found on May 10.

The body had no visible injuries when the police took it to the mortuary pending autopsy and further probe, police said.

And police have also launched investigations into the sudden death of a 44-year-old homeless woman who was found dead while on a wheelchair along Mama Ngina Street on Wednesday afternoon.

Documents found by the police bore the name of Janet Moraa Magambo, from Kisii County.

Other medical reports indicated that she was suffering from diabetes.

The body was transferred to City Mortuary awaiting postmortem. Police said they are investigating the incident.
