This week, primary and secondary schools will resume for the longest term in the 2023 academic calendar.

The students who were on a two-week holiday will begin the 14-week second term on Monday.

According to the updated school calendar, the students will break on August 11.

"From June 29 to July 2 the students will be on half-term break," the circular reads.

In January, the Ministry of Education adjusted the 2023 school calendar, changing the duration of the national exam.

The circular was copied to Education CS Ezekiel Machogu, TSC chief executive officer Nancy Macharia and KNEC CEO David Njengere.

"KCPE and KPSEA will begin on November 30 and end on November 2," the circular reads.

This means the exam will take four days just like the initial calendar.

Students writing KCSE will also sit the exams from November 3 to November 24.

This takes 21 days, the initial calendar showed KCSE would take place from November 10 to December 1.

"KCSE marking will begin on November 27 to December 15."

The first term will have 13 weeks, the second term 14 weeks and the third term will be the shortest with 10 weeks.

Students will break from October 28 to January 8, initially, they were supposed to get two months' break from November 3 till 2024.
